Maya Chorengel

Ms. Chorengel is Senior Partner, Impact, at The Rise Fund, and its Financial Services Sector Lead. The Rise Fund is committed to achieving social and environmental impact alongside competitive financial returns by partnering with creative entrepreneurs to build successful businesses that drive meaningful measurable, positive change. Maya has over 20 years of private equity, venture capital and impact investing experience. Prior to joining The Rise Fund, Maya co-founded Elevar Equity, a leading impact venture capital firm with a track record of top decile financial returns and meaningful impact on over 20 million low-income households. Prior to Elevar, she was Managing Director of the Dignity Fund, a private investment fund focused on local currency debt financing for high-growth microfinance institutions globally. Prior to the Dignity Fund, Maya was at Warburg Pincus, based in their New York, Hong Kong, and Menlo Park offices, investing in growth companies in a variety of industries. She first worked as an investment banker at James D. Wolfensohn, Incorporated (New York). Maya currently serves as a Director of Kiva, GloboKasNet and Salish|Growth. She also serves on the Industry Advisory Council of the US National Advisory Board on Impact Investing (NAB), the Advisory Board of the Harvard Business School Social Enterprise Initiative, Duke University’s CASE i3 Impact Initiative, and is an advisor to several other impact funds and organizations. Maya earned an A.B. in Social Studies, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, from Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
